ABOUT US

After many years bringing their children from Nottingham to Cornwall for holidays, Dave & Elaine Bowman decided to settle and purchased the Mevagissey Shark Angling Centre in April 1990 as a husband and wife partnership.

Today, the Mevagissey Shark Angling Centre continues as a Father and son Partnership, Dave works with his son Chris, supplying the needs of the fishing community from their shop right on the harbour-side in Mevagissey in Cornwall.
But why is it called Mevagissey Shark Angling Centre?

Shark fishing was really popular up until the mid nineties when once a year, in September, many boats would compete to catch or land the biggest shark. Nowadays however, with sea stocks of sharks drastically reduced, far fewer shark trips occur and although there is no longer a shark competition - the services we provide and the equipment we offer, together with the shop name, still remain.
